This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Indonesian language instruction integrated with Islamic values in enhancing religious attitudes among elementary school students. The study is grounded in the growing need to strengthen character and religious education beyond Islamic Religious Education subjects by utilizing general subjects as strategic media for value internalization. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design with classroom observations and reflective data. The participants were upper-grade elementary school students who engaged in Indonesian language learning activities that embedded Islamic values through selected texts, contextual discussions, and reflective learning tasks. Quantitative data were analyzed using paired-sample statistical tests and effect size calculations, while qualitative data were examined through thematic analysis. The findings reveal a statistically significant improvement in students’ religious attitudes after the intervention, with a large effect size indicating a strong instructional impact. Qualitative evidence further supports these results by illustrating enhanced reflective engagement and value internalization during language learning processes. The study concludes that Indonesian language instruction based on Islamic values is effective in fostering students’ religious attitudes and offers meaningful implications for the development of value-based language pedagogy in elementary education.
