Abstract

The rapid digital transformation of the 21st century requires Islamic educational institutions to adopt advanced learning technologies without losing their cultural and spiritual identity. This article aims to develop a conceptual framework for integrating local madrasah culture with metaverse technology as a value-based and immersive Islamic learning space for the future. Employing a qualitative library research approach, this study reviews 54 Scopus-indexed journal articles published between 2019 and 2025 in the fields of educational technology, Islamic pedagogy, cultural studies, and metaverse development. Data were analyzed using deductive thematic analysis to identify key patterns, principles, and pedagogical strategies. The findings reveal five core principles for reconstructing digital Islamic learning spaces: immersive digitalization of madrasah cultural heritage, interactive metaverse-based learning, a hybrid pedagogical model integrating culture, technology, and spirituality, holistic assessment systems, and multi-stakeholder collaboration in building Islamic metaverse ecosystems. These results indicate that the metaverse functions not merely as a technological platform but as a medium for cultural preservation and Islamic value internalization. This study contributes to the advancement of an inclusive, spiritually grounded, and future-oriented framework for Islamic digital education.
